This was such a special week for Surf With Amigas! We did our usual daily surfing, yoga, eat eat eat, but also got to go to a local surf contest, and eat out at our new favorite brunch spot! We even had a couple of Amigos join us.
Surfing, dancing, eating amazing food, doing yoga, dancing, playing kickball with local ladies, dancing, volcano boarding, dancing. It’s what we do. All fun and adventure, all day long on our women’s surf and yoga retreats. Come play and get your boogie on!
We had a particularly big swell this week and a big group of Amigas to charge it. Surf, yoga, adventure, and connecting with the local community made for an action packed week!
I absolutely love getting Amigas into big waves. Ok, i’ll admit it, I do prefer when looking at the surf forecast while planning the retreat week, it shows small to medium sized surf. It just makes life easier that way. But when I saw a swell forecasted to be 22″, I also got really excited. During the retreat, we offered a course on how to read surf forecasts to explain what the period number actually means. Standby for a blog post on that….
For now you can check out the photos below to see what that long period swell means! (hint. big waves!).
Our team of surf instructors were on it, guaranteeing that all the Amigas stayed safe even amongst very large waves breaking over a rock bottom. Each of the ladies who challenged the point got at least one large wave, and many rode theirs all the way to the beach to the cheers of the ladies on the inside. It was a magical and inspiring day! Check out some photo highlights below…
Boat trips, nose rides, off shore winds and pure stoke. This week the guests at Surf With Amigas women’s surf and yoga retreat got some great surf sessions in as well as some volcano boarding and horse back riding too!
This week with Surf With Amigas Surf and Yoga retreat was action packed as usual with lots of surfing, volcano boarding, horse back riding, classroom and paddle school and and all balanced out with daily yoga.
This was a particularly awesome week in North Nicaragua. We had a few returning amigas including the awesome Holly Kinser who has now spent 4 Thanksgivings with us. We also got Rocco Deloslocos the rottweiler and Luna the toddler a few waves. We saw the return to surf coaching of Holly Obermeyer after her maternity leave, not to mention tons of awesome rides and dance moves by the Amigas.
This week was blessed with cute waves, awesome amigas, (and an amigo) and adventures for days! We got lucky and got to witness the release of baby turtles thanks to the Waves of Hope sea turtle conservation project sponsored by Surf with Amigas.
We got a fresh swell in for this week in South Nicaragua which allowed us to surf our brains out! Some of the ladies got to try surfing Popoyo and others mastered Magnific Rock’s long rolling left.
Week one of our fall/winter season kicked off with a wonderful group of ladies including a group from Alaska celebrating a 50th birthday who fell in love with surfing, as well as some awesome returning Amigas. There was no shortage of activities from sailboat rides to helping out the local Nica Surf Club.
