What it’s Really Like to Be a Female Surfer (as opposed to the media image)

You may have already seen this video, but if not, you should take a moment and watch it right now. I watched it twice in a row and found it pretty hilarious. It’s also something to help make you feel good about your body, as opposed to all the perfectly posed and often airbrushed images of girls with surfboards that you see on social media. It’s even a departure from the perfectly toned and ridiculously fit pro surfer girls who have all day long to train themselves into bikini shape, despite the fact that Lauren Hill is also a pro surfer. Being a woman in a bikini is not easy! If you feel that way as well, here’s some validation.

After watching that video I was inspired to learn more about the creator. If you feel the same, see the video below:

‘Taking Sexy Back’ on Surfline Now…

Surfline recently posted a feature article by Lauren Hill, ocean activist and professional surfer, about the sexualization of women’s surfing.  Hill’s insight along with a few frothy videos by Hayley Gordon, and some beautiful shots by the talented photographer, Ming Nomchong, come together to provide some food for thought and inspiration for all of us ocean-loving ladies. Click here for the full article on Surfline.

The page also features a teaser for Hayley Gordon’s film, Party Mix. Check out the full length version below. These girls rip. [vimeo 59689649 w=500 h=281]
