On this retreat in El Salvador we had a solid crew of shortboarders who wanted to explore some nearby waves. Our instructors Michelle and Kim Mayer were more than happy to show them a wave just down the beach called La Bocana. In case you think Surf With Amigas is just for longboarders, here’s some evidence that shortboarders are more than welcome!
Every now and then we get a solid group of shortboard shredders on a retreat that allows us to break off into a smaller group and get some serious shredding done. Here’s a group of frothers in El Salvador exploring a rivermouth just south of the main retreat location.
It’s been a long time in the making, but it’s finally finished – the Duck Dive Tutorial! Holly Beck, pro surfer and coach at Surf With Amigas explains how to do a duck dive and analyzes footage of Amigas trying it so you can see what they’re doing wrong and how to fix it.
When I first started Surf With Amigas, I had envisioned a place where girls that already knew how to surf could come and improve their skills. In reality we end up doing a lot of surf lessons for beginners, which is fun too. This trip to El Salvador had the most shredding shortboarders we’ve ever assembled which was amazing! Check them out shredding it up at a variety of spots in El Salvador.
We are headed back to these spots in October! Come shred with us!
