A couple years ago Holly took a trip to Ecuador with the Sector 9 girl’s team and scored with miles of uncrowded beach break, warm water, and great long smooth hills for skateboarding. One day we might even head back there with a group of Amigas.

Continuing our theme of highlighting ladies who overcome fear, this is the story of Debbie Teng.
Debbie Teng is a classic character with a big laugh and an awesome attitude. She came on her second retreat with Surf With Amigas to El Salvador and paddled to the outside for the first time. Despite big waves and a lot of fear, she overcame and caught her first green waves which left her feeling totally empowered, like she could conquer anything! One day Nadia was minding her own business out surfing the Boom (gnarly tubular wave rarely surfed by girls) when Holly paddled over and started in with 20 questions. “what’s your name? where are you from? where are you staying? how long are you here? have you ever taught surf lessons? want to come work for me?” It’s rare to see smiling girls out shredding with the boys and Nadia was out there with a big smile, paddling around and dropping into bombs. She spent a few weeks in November with Surf with Amigas and came back for two months this summer. We hope she’ll be back again! This is why….

This is an adventure that takes place in July in Northern Nicaragua as a group of Amigas on a Womens Surf Yoga and Adventure retreat learn to surf and outrun a lightning storm on horseback. You may have seen the photos but the video tells the true story.

Chelsea Denning joined us in the Philippines for her second trip with Surf With Amigas. She’s super cute, fun to hang out with, and always the first one up in the morning ready to go surfing! After the trip she sent us this great thank you note with a link to the video she edited from the clips collected on the trip.
I wanted to thank you for another AMAZING retreat! I had an awesome time and thought the Philippines location was just perfect! I appreciate that you always make sure we have a great time and in addition to the fun surf making it a full adventure trip.
My husband says every time I come back he can see a noticeable improvement in my surfing and especially my confidence in surfing. I really appreciate all your help in pushing me and guiding me to get better at surfing. I love surfing so much and realize that it only gets more fun the better you get so am looking forward to continuing to improve!
