surf instructor
catalina hotz
Catalina Hotz was born in Germany to a German father and a Chilean mother, and moved to Chile as a child, where her passion for the ocean began. Always fascinated by the diversity of the world, she studied Business and Marketing, yet has always been drawn to creativity, adventure, and exploration.
She sees surfing as a portal—The feeling of riding a wave is uncomparable, but also to discover new places, meet people, form friendships, and experience different ways of life, all deeply connected to the sea. This perspective also led her into photography, capturing the ocean and its moments, including her first SWA retreat in Chicama, Peru.
Now as a SWA coach, Catalina is inspired by the stories of women who live authentically in countless ways, embracing diversity while sharing the common stoke for surfing. She cherishes the balance between exploring and staying grounded—surfing, photographing, cooking outdoors, and aspires to collaborate on projects that inspire both herself and others, while creating a positive impact on the environment and communities around.
