Surf instructor

Position Overview

By becoming a Surf with Amigas team member you will be joining a group of badass women surfers who prioritize spreading stoke and supporting one another in surfing and in life. Surf instructors are responsible for facilitating in-water and on-land group surf lessons and coaching. In addition, our coaches are expected to eat meals, perform general hosting duties, guide activities, and socialize with guests every day of the retreat. Surf with Amigas is a team centric environment, so helping with daily tasks such as loading boards, packing coolers, and generally helping out other teammates is a must.  Surf instructors are also  expected to commit to working around 2-3 months minimum at their assigned location with a typical schedule of one week on one week off.  Food and accommodation are provided for weeks while working.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Surf coach 1-3 sessions a day (depending on the guests wants)
  • Teach educational surf classes (pop-up class, etiquette etc.)
  • Participate in weekly excursions/activities
  • Socialize with guests during meals and activities
  • Share your stoke, have fun, and surf!

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience teaching surfing.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience personally surfing and consider yourself to be at an “advanced” level.
  • Willing to wake up at 4am for early morning coffee duty and dawn patrols
  • A frothy attitude towards surfing and life and a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Trip Leader

Position Overview

By becoming a Surf with Amigas team member you will be joining a group of badass women surfers who prioritize spreading stoke and supporting one another in surfing and in life. Trip leaders are responsible for the daily operations of each week-long surf and yoga retreat, as well as performing Surf Instructor duties.  They are the primary contact for guests before and during each retreat.  Trip leaders organize the week’s schedule, board assignments, surf locations, as well as managing the other Surf with Amigas staff and external tour operators.  Trip leaders are expected to commit to working around 2-3 months minimum at their assigned location, with a typical schedule of one week on one week off. Food and accommodation are provided for weeks while working.

Primary Job Responsibilities (in addition to everything listed in the Surf Instructor position)

  • Manage a team of awesome lady shredders
  • Create a surf and activity schedule for each day of the retreat
  • Coordinate with local staff
  • Manage day to day retreat operations
  • Be the primary touchstone for guests before and during each retreat week

Requirements

  • Experience running group trips or retreats.
  • Minimum 2 years experience teaching surfing.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience personally surfing and consider yourself to be at an “advanced” level.
  • A frothy attitude towards surfing and life and a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
