Sofie Chapman

Sofie Champan grew up in the rural jungle of Sulawesi, Indonesia, without electricity, phones, or even transportation. After finishing high school en Sulawesi, Sofie moved to Bali and discovered surfing which completely changed her life. She didnt have the money tot take surf lessons but was committed to learning on her own by watching other surfers and practicing as much as she could.

Back in 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Sofie and her husband went on a sailing trip to Rote Island. Shortly after arriving to Rote, the country went into a shutdown and they couldn’t travel back to Bali. She had to stay with her husband on the island, eventually building a home and never leaving.

Sofie is passionate about surfing and sailing and lives in the best place to do it! She’s grateful for all the ways surfing has influenced her life and all of the wonderful people she has met along the way.
