Last Costa Rican Retreat of the Season Scored Sick Waves

The last retreat of our winter/spring 2016 series in Costa Rica was blessed with very large surf. At first the Amigas weren’t very excited to hear that until we explained that it meant that we’d be able to surf some different spots that are more protected and only break with a larger swell. Everyone ended up getting the right sized waves for their appetites and scored some of the best waves of their lives. We got so much great footage that we broke it up into two videos. See below!

Here’s the highlight video for our second retreat in October 2015 in El Salvador. The waves were a bit smaller but still had plenty of size and we had some serious shredders. Watch the girls handle well overhead waves with style. Plus pool antics, ping pong, and plenty of dancing.

Jamie Came to Improve Her Surfing – Success!

Jamie has been surfing a few years in the Los Angeles area without any formal coaching, just going surfing with her friends. Some of those friends had visited Surf With Amigas the year before and greatly improved their surfing, so Jamie came down hoping to do the same. After a few days she realized that the issues she was having didn’t have a lot to do with skill necessarily but were mental blocks. With the help of the Amigas instructors (both surf and yoga) she was able to overcome and scored the best wave of her life, riding all the way to the beach with mindfulness and control, on the last day of the retreat. Here’s Jamie’s story.

Escaping Cold Weather to a Warm Water Paradise

Our December retreat scored super awesome conditions with all day offshore winds, a few small days of surf to get the Amigas warmed up, and then a few days of bigger waves that allowed them to get the best waves of their lives. Of course there were awesome sunsets, plenty of silliness, and delicious cocktails sprinkled throughout the week. Standard! Love sunsets, warm water, and surfing with new friends? Come play with us!

Check out this awesome video of an amazing group of ladies!
This group was especially fun for me with two returning amigas. Marcia came to Suave Dulce for the first time in January 2011, and Corine in July 2011. Both returned in November and improved their surfing even more! We had 7 ladies with some surfing experience and 3 that had never surfed before. It was so inspiring to watch everyone pushing themselves, improving, and cheering each other on. Thanks for everything ladies!
