Southern Costa Rica Slideshow

We’ve been seriously loving Costa Rica. The place we’re staying has two super fun surf spots right out front. One is good when the swell is a bit bigger and another is fun when the swell is smaller. Yesterday we had some small clean waves so we walked just a bit down the beach and scored this fun peak with no one else out! Check out a few snaps from the session.

March 1-8 Highlights and other Awesomeness

The first week of March was the final retreat of our 2014 winter series. The Amigas got super lucky with an unseasonable solid swell that saw the point light up and some ladies pushing themselves to get the biggest/best waves of their lives! A bit of foreshadowing of the season to come… We start back up in Northern Nicaragua at the end of May. Check out the schedule tab for details!

Holly Beck Surfs and Skates in Ecuador

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8weMFBLNL_Y]

A couple years ago Holly took a trip to Ecuador with the Sector 9 girl’s team and scored with miles of uncrowded beach break, warm water, and great long smooth hills for skateboarding. One day we might even head back there with a group of Amigas.

Would you be excited about a retreat to Ecuador? Let us know by posting a comment!189845_10150151936366411_561376410_8830062_3022682_n

By The Way – Girl’s Surf Short

http://vimeo.com/37014495

If you were lucky enough to grow up surfing, this should feel familiar. If you didn’t start surfing until you were 20, 30, 40, this is a reminder to get a bunch of girlfriends together and surf, skate, and do silly stuff!

By The Way is a fifteen minute short surf film by Hayley Gordon featuring Sara Taylor, Ornella Pellizzari, Silvana Lima, Margaux Arramon-Tucoo, Jenna Balester, Kim Kirch, Jen Smith, Courtney Conlogue, Danica Elbertse, Kaleigh Gilchrist, Rebecca Woods, Sofia Mulanovich, Malia Manuel, Leila Hurst.

Dancing and Shredding in El Salvador

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znKwDsP1hgE]

Introducing a new dance move called “the pelican swat” in between super fun waves at Sunzal, the girls from Amigas Surf and Yoga Retreats are always having a good time!

The “pelican swat” dance move originated when Holly was teasing Nadia about her tendency to arm flail. Holly happens to have unusually long arms (the better to carry your longboard for you!) and suggested that if she flailed like Nadia she’d end up swatting pelicans left and right. And just like that, a new dance move was born!

We’re doing retreats at this location in October! Come play! See the Schedule for details!
