Chelsea’s Trip with Amigas to the Philippines

[vimeo http://vimeo.com/65024266]

Chelsea Denning joined us in the Philippines for her second trip with Surf With Amigas. She’s super cute, fun to hang out with, and always the first one up in the morning ready to go surfing! After the trip she sent us this great thank you note with a link to the video she edited from the clips collected on the trip.

Hi Holly!

I wanted to thank you for another AMAZING retreat! I had an awesome time and thought the Philippines location was just perfect! I appreciate that you always make sure we have a great time and in addition to the fun surf making it a full adventure trip.
My husband says every time I come back he can see a noticeable improvement in my surfing and especially my confidence in surfing. I really appreciate all your help in pushing me and guiding me to get better at surfing. I love surfing so much and realize that it only gets more fun the better you get so am looking forward to continuing to improve!
Thank you also for all the awesome video footage. I did some video editing and put it together along with a bunch of footage I took too. Here it is!
I can’t wait to hear about next year’s retreats! I’m already looking forward to coming back and joining you in maybe El Salvador or Ecuador or any other awesome location you have lined up!
Thanks Holly!!!!

Who Needs a Boyfriend When I Can Ride A Wave – Music Video

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MV5phSOnoSY]

Jackey Mars is a surfer, singer, songwriter living in San Diego CA who came down to Surf With Amigas and totally rocked it on all fronts. She got a bunch of good waves, even after getting pounded by big sets and taking her fin to her face! She handled rum shots on her birthday, glided down a volcano, and galloped down the beach on horseback. She also jammed for us a song that she wrote that I think every surfer girl can relate to!
Follow Jackey on Facebook and listen to more tracks!

Stacey Jones at Suave Dulce

Stacey did a lot of research and decided that based on price, location, and activities, Suave Dulce is the best Surf and Yoga Retreat out there! She came with high expectations and was still surprised by how awesome it is.

Life Lessons from Surfing

Michelle Steffes came to a retreat a few months ago and stood up on her first wave on day 1. After a few days acquainting herself with the ocean, her board, and her pop-up, she became determined to paddle outside and catch a “green” wave. By the end of the week, after a lot of great support and coaching, she achieved her goal.
A few weeks after her trip, she was inspired to write the following.
Thanks Michelle!

Headed out for one last wave before sunset.

I sit on my board
And watch the wave rise up and tower over me
White foam beginning to crest at the peak
“Uh oh,” I whisper
From miles below

A moment later
As I hang upside down
In the churning maelstrom
One leg yanked roughly toward shore
By the leash around my ankle
The other throbbing from a fresh wound
Lungs aching for air
And ears popping painfully

I think about the choices I’ve made in my life
The many times I’ve lingered sideways
In the path of tsunamis
Paralyzed by indecision

Neither intrepid enough
To charge toward shore
Leap to my feet
And ride to victory

Nor sensible enough
To give up early
Hold my breath
Dive for the sea floor and curl into a ball
While I wait for the worst of the destruction to pass.

Michelle, confidently up and riding on a nice little insider.
