Ok, ok, I know what you’re saying to yourself: “enough of the Philippines footage already! It was awesome and gorgeous, we get it!” So no worries, this is the LAST Philippines post you’ll see for a while as we transition back into Central American retreats. This is a pretty good one though, so be sure to check it out and if you’re interested in being added to the list of potential Amigas for a Philippines 2014 retreat, email me at [email protected]

Exploring the Sohoton Caves in the Philippines

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCqKlPiE5MY]

On a small day of surf in the Philippines, we hopped on a couple of boats and journeyed to the Sohoton Caves. We had no idea what to expect and were pleasantly surprised by gorgeous water, super cute sting-less jelly fish, and very adventurous caving. The tide was pretty high which made entering the caves even more of an adventure.

Sunny Morning Surf in the Philippines

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrFQxLc8taw]

Super cute waves, gorgeous water, sunny mornings. Life is good in the Philippines for our first of two women’s surf and yoga retreats. We wake up, get on a boat, paddle out to empty waves, duck dive in super clear water, and cheer for new friends. So sweet!

Riding Water Buffalos in the Philippines

New retreat activity – Riding Water Buffalos!

[youtube=http://youtu.be/5e07xMsoNxk]

We had no idea what to expect when 9 girls showed up to ride water buffalos. It turned out to be a hilarious afternoon booze cruise to the top of a hill with a gorgeous view and then the craziness really started – racing them! A few of us fell off, and we all got a great ab workout from laughing so hard! Check out the footage!

Dance Party

We like to boogie. We know how to get down. We are usually in bed by 9pm so we can get up early and shred, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t time for a little Salsa!

How to Say Rum in Spanish

[youtube=http://youtu.be/yPPKytv2fEA]

If you want to be cool, you’ve gotta say it right. Ready?

Ron.

Try again.

RRRon.

Really get into it this time.

RRRRRRRRon!

That’s better.We took a tour of the Flor de Cana Rum Factory in Chichigalpa and learned how to taste 18 year old rum like a pro, and correctly pronounce it the Nicaraguan way – “ron!” Then headed back to the beach for a super fun session with some returning Amigas. Shredding!

Sunset Mermaids

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqqlPrEVkPk]

They may look like humans but their mermaid fins are revealed the moment they hit the saltwater. They nurture their muscles while mixing cement to build a high school for Nicaraguan children, then dive into the ocean at sunset after a few sips of cold beer. The life of an Amiga.

Testing Surf Hats by Surf Munkey

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F06rKEifeG0]

It’s super sunny in Nicaragua and we spend long hours in the surf. Our eyes get fried. Our lips blister. Wrinkles are multiplying! Fortunately, we came across these sweet little hats by Surf Munkey. They are really light weight and totally comfortable! We plan to order a bunch to include in our Suitcase Boutique very soon! Here’s a silly video from the first day we tested them out including some interesting synchronized surfing by Jackie and Jam Slam. Enjoy!
